چکیده

The objective of this Letter consists the exploration lossy mode resonance (LMR) phenomenon beyond near-infrared region and specifically in short wave infrared (SWIR) medium (MWIR). experimental theoretical results show for first time, to best our knowledge, not only LMRs these regions, but also utilization fluoride glass optical fiber associated with phenomenon. fabricated devices consist a nanometric thin-film titanium dioxide used as LMR generating material, which probed extraordinary sensitivities external refractive index (RI) variations. RI sensitivity was studied SWIR MWIR under different conditions, such wavelength range or order resonance, showing tremendous potential detection minute concentrations gaseous biological compounds media.

Optical fiber biosensor based on Lossy Mode Resonances

The detection of the specific binding between antigen and antibody is perhaps the most used technique for diagnosis in medicine and biology. More specifically, the utilization of optical devices, which enable the detection of specific antigen-antibody binding by means of the monitorisation of their spectral response, is extensively exploited in immunoassays. In this field, Surface Plasmon Reson...

Optical Fiber Humidity Sensor Based on Lossy Mode Resonances

A novel optical fiber humidity sensor based on lossy mode resonances (LMR) has been developed. LMRs are supported here by a thin Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coating fabricated onto an optical fiber core via a sol-gel dip coating. ITO coated optical fiber devices present a resonant maximum absorption peak in the infra-red region which is shifted to higher wavelengths when the refractive index of the ...

Single-mode tellurite glass holey fiber with extremely large mode area for infrared nonlinear applications.

We report the fabrication of a large mode area tellurite holey fiber from an extruded preform, with a mode area of 3000microm(2). Robust single-mode guidance at 1.55microm was confirmed by both optical measurement and numerical simulation. The propagation loss was measured as 2.9dB/m at 1.55microm. A broad and flat supercontinuum from 0.9 to 2.5microm with 6mW output was obtained with a 9cm len...

Optical Fiber Near Infrared Spectroscopy for Skin Moisture Measurement

Skin covers the entire human body and function as shield from various types of external stimuli, damage and also from loss of moisture. The main characteristic factors for protecting the body and assisting in motion are the softness and pliability of skin (Obata and Tagami, 1990). These factors are dependent on the amount of moisture available in the stratum corneum, which is the outermost laye...

Photodegradation of fluoride glass blue fiber laser

The first demonstration of blue upconversion fiber lasers in Tm-ZBLAN has generated considerable interest among laser scientists looking for all-solid-state visible sources. Although initial experiments have shown a large conversion efficiency, a good spatial beam quality and an overall simplicity of the approach, these sources have not yet appeared on the market. In an attempt to reproduce the...
